Bending Moment Calculator
Bending Moment (M) = F × d
Practical Examples:
Example 1: Bridge Design
A bridge beam is subjected to a force of 100 kN at a distance of 5 meters from the support. Calculate the bending moment.
Solution: M = F × d = 100 kN × 5 m = 500 kNm
Example 2: Crane Load
A crane's boom is 10 meters long and is subjected to a force of 50 kN at the tip. Calculate the bending moment.
Solution: M = F × d = 50 kN × 10 m = 500 kNm
Example 3: Building Structure
A building's beam is subjected to a force of 20 kN at a distance of 3 meters from the support. Calculate the bending moment.
Solution: M = F × d = 20 kN × 3 m = 60 kNm
Example 4: Robot Arm
A robot arm's joint is subjected to a force of 10 N at a distance of 0.5 meters from the axis of rotation. Calculate the bending moment.
Solution: M = F × d = 10 N × 0.5 m = 5 Nm
Example 5: Ship's Hull
A ship's hull is subjected to a force of 50 kN at a distance of 10 meters from the keel. Calculate the bending moment.
Solution: M = F × d = 50 kN × 10 m = 500 kNm
